Superyacht Charter in Australia
Australia feels almost purpose-made for a superyacht charter, with tropical reef, remote wilderness and sophisticated coastal life offering very different ways to explore. In North Queensland, the Great Barrier Reef and Whitsundays bring warm waters, coral gardens and island anchorages, while the Kimberley is altogether wilder, shaped by vast tides, ochre cliffs and dramatic river systems. Further south, cosmopolitan cities and temperate coastlines reveal another side to the country.
Timing is central to planning an Australian charter. In North Queensland and the Whitsundays, the drier months from May to October bring lower humidity and excellent conditions for diving, snorkelling and time ashore, with early winter also bringing increased whale activity. The Kimberley is best explored from around May to September, while southern Australia follows a different rhythm, with January to March better suited to cruising. Each season offers a distinctly different experience.
I look forward to working with Yomira again in the future. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for outstanding service.

Where Reef meets Rainforest
North Queensland is one of Australia’s most varied superyacht cruising grounds, with Cairns providing a natural gateway to the Great Barrier Reef and Port Douglas combining easy reef access with the tropical landscapes of the Daintree. Further north, Cooktown offers a quieter and more remote character, with historic roots and a rugged coastline. Together, these destinations create a charter that moves naturally between coral reef, rainforest and relaxed time ashore.
Island Days and Ribbon Reefs
Lizard Island sits on the northern Great Barrier Reef, surrounded by clear water, coral gardens and secluded beaches that are particularly well suited to exploring by yacht. Nearby, the Ribbon Reefs offer some of the region’s finest diving and snorkelling, with dramatic coral formations and abundant marine life. Together, they create a more remote style of charter, centered on time in the water, quiet anchorages and access to one of the reef’s most remarkable stretches.
Australia’s Paradise
The Whitsundays are made for exploring by yacht, with 74 islands scattered across warm tropical waters and countless places to swim, snorkel and go ashore. Whitehaven Beach is the best-known stop, with sand made from around 98% pure silica, giving it an exceptionally fine, soft texture underfoot. Nearby Haslewood Island also found fame on screen, appearing in Pirates of the Caribbean, while Hill Inlet and the surrounding anchorages make this one of Australia’s most distinctive cruising areas.
Sunshine, Surf and Style on the Gold Coast
The Gold Coast offers a more polished, energetic side to an Australian superyacht charter, with broad beaches, waterfront restaurants and a strong boating culture centred around the Broadwater and Main Beach. Ashore, Burleigh Heads has become known for its excellent dining and relaxed coastal feel, while the hinterland brings rainforest, waterfalls and mountain scenery within easy reach. It is a destination that balances time on the water with lively evenings, good food and an easygoing Queensland atmosphere.
Sydney from the Water
Sydney is at its best from the water, where the harbour opens onto one of the world’s most recognisable cityscapes. Cruise beneath the Harbour Bridge, anchor off secluded harbour beaches or step ashore for lunch in Watsons Bay before heading into the city for exceptional dining, galleries and nightlife. With the Opera House, sandstone headlands and sheltered coves all within easy reach, Sydney combines city energy with a surprisingly relaxed style of cruising.
Explore the West Coast
Perth brings a distinctly different character to an Australian superyacht charter, with long beaches, clear Indian Ocean waters and a relaxed city atmosphere. Cruise out to Rottnest Island for sheltered bays and the chance to see its famous quokkas, spend time along the beaches of Cottesloe or head ashore for excellent dining around the city and Swan River. With nearby wine country, island anchorages and a coastline that feels far removed from Australia’s east, Perth offers an easy blend of city life and time on the water.
Where the Outback Meets the Sea
The Kimberley is Australia at its most remote, where towering red cliffs, tidal rivers and waterfalls create a landscape best explored by yacht. Days can be spent cruising through the Buccaneer Archipelago, fishing for barramundi, spotting saltwater crocodiles and taking tenders deep into narrow gorges and hidden inlets. With ancient Aboriginal rock art, powerful tides and almost no sign of modern life, the region offers a rare sense of scale and isolation.
Superyacht Charter with Yomira in Australia
With Yomira, we shape the itinerary around the parts of Australia that matter most to you and the way you want to spend your time. That might mean heading north to the Ribbon Reefs for remote diving and the chance of encountering dwarf minke whales in June or July, cruising slowly through the Whitsundays with a morning at Whitehaven Beach and a helicopter flight over Heart Reef, or travelling west into the Kimberley, where days can be spent exploring gorges and tidal waterways by tender before visiting ancient cultural sites with an Aboriginal guide. Each offers a different sense of Australia, from marine discovery and easy island life to genuine expedition cruising.
Our knowledge of Australia and wider industry experience allow us to select the yacht best suited to the cruising area you wish to explore. From there, we work with you to shape an itinerary around your interests, preferred pace and the experiences that matter most, bringing together the right yacht, route and destination to create a charter that feels considered from beginning to end.
